Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo
National park is a very special place ; each part of it
is alive with a variety of interests and colour . It is
situated in Mbarara district and it is the smallest of
Uganda's savannah National parks.

It's
sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and
idyllic lake shores has varied mosaic of habitats i.e.;
forest galleries , rich acacia tree valleys , seasonal
and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wild
life .Its mosaic habitats of dry hillside , rocky
outcrops ,bushes , thicket , open wooded savannah ,
forests lakes and swamps are home to suprising diversity
of plants and animals. Lake mburo national park is
famous for its richness in bio diversity .

It has
about 68 different species of mammals . The common ones
are zebras, Impalas, buffaloes, Topis and eland that are
herbivores and leopards, hyenas and jackals that are
predators.
The
park covers 260 sq.kms and lies along Mbarara road
within easy access of Kampala. It is an attractive park
of rolling hills and open grass valleys, interspersed
with thickets, woodlands and rich wetlands.
Enjoy this
very un-visited park that affords the visitor sights of
the impala (only found here in Uganda), waterbuck, cape
buffalo, topi, zebra, eland and leopard. Hippos are very
vocal and feed in the open during the daylight hours.
Along with a game drive many visitors enjoy a boat ride
on the lake. Self-guided nature trails are available.
For bird
watchers there more than 250 species of birds in this
park including papyrus gonolek, brown faced lapwing, the
Carruther’s cist cola plus many more. |
