mgahinga national park

The Uganda side of the Virunga Volcanoes which form a border with Rwanda and the Congo, are under the protection of Mgahinga National Park and host some of Uganda’s mountain gorillas.

The Mgahinga National Park is 33.7 sq. km and consists of partially forested slopes of three extinct volcanoes which offer refuge for the peaceful mountain gorillas. When you reach the park you can get a great birds eye view of the area by walking up the viewpoint, justĀ  a 15 minute walk from Ntebeko Gate The park also hosts habituated groups of rare golden monkey.
